White Boxers are not caused by
genetic birth defects. White Boxers are not albinos. Most white boxers
have some spots on their skin and have some markings around
their nose and mouth. Some white boxers have colored markings in
their coat. All white boxers have pigment in their eyes. Eye
color pigment is an indication that a white boxer dog is not
albino. |
The boxer breed standard stipulates that two-thirds of the body be
either fawn or brindle in color. Because of this limitation, white
boxers do not meet the breed standard.
White boxer dogs are
frequently euthanized at birth. Many breeders feel that white Boxers are
inferior to standard colored Boxers and have more health problems that
standard colored boxers. The American Boxer Club does not actively
discourage this behavior but it does allow white Boxers to be registered
with the AKC on limited privilege.
They call me Freckles, I'm a White Boxer. I live in Arizona. In November 2010 I was about three months when I was adopted. I was a rescure puppy. A lady told mom that I was left to starve to death because I am a White Boxer. The lady told mom she rescued me and was looking for someone to adopt me.
Mom was looking for a big dog. She noticed how much I loved people. We decided my birthday would be September 26. I'm so glad she adopted me. She just spoiles me to no end.
Because I was starved I could only lick an ice cube and eat
one-quarter of a cup of food at a time. Mom had to hand feed me.
After a few days I was able to eat out of my dishes. I LOVE chop
meat and rice with my dog food. One time mom cooked a
23 pound turkey for me. I like dark meat and white meat. It
took me a few weeks but I ate the whole thing, yum yum yum.
Mom was concerned for my health and took me to http://www.mashvet.net/contact-us.html so I could get my shots and be neutered. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got my county dog tag. I don't run around loose but it is a good idea to have it.
When
mom goes out I have to stay in my cage. It's OK I have my blanket,
toys and chewies. I get upset when I don't see mom, unless of
course I'm in the backyard chewing the aloe. I listen to music
when she is gone. It helps me relax and I don't bark. My
favorites are
Angel Paradise (you can find it
here) and
Dreamland (you can find it
here). Sometimes I lay on my back when I sleep and I snore
loud. Sometimes Boxers sleep with their eyes opened. Mom
says it looks creepy.
Because I'm a big dog I went to puppy school. And, we
watched DVDs about dog training. I
go to Doggie Day Care at when mom gets a massage. You get doggie
ice cream and treats. Yum yum yum. Some dogs go there
every day because their family works.
PetZoom Pet Park Indoor Pet Potty, 25.5" x 20" x 2" Because I was left outside before I lived with mom potty training was an issue. Mom describes it as a mess. I'm a boy what can I say. Mom says if I want to go on vacation I need to learn to potty correctly.
At first I chewed everything in site. I have so many toys.
I have inside toys and I have outside toys. Raw hide isn't good
for my tummy so I have lots of beef chewies. We play catch and
bring outside. If I knock over the fish bowl the fish will get
mad.
Now that I'm bigger I get
to sit in my Lazy Boy recliner.
Then I got SOOOOO big mom had to buy me my own Lazy Boy sofa. I
let her sit on it. Why lay on the floor when I can be comfortable? I
like to sit on the sofa with mom and watch TV. I get excited when
I hear the dogs bark. The TV dogs went to dog school to learn
tricks. They work hard.
I eat better and have more toys than most children in this world.
I love my bath.
I have allergies. One time I get real sick and had to be on
medicine because a spider bit me. I take medicine with natural
peanut butter. We
have a LOT of insects and mosquitoes in Arizona. A rancher told
mom that the sent of citrus would keep the bugs away from me. Plus
I take my Heart Guard medication. Heart worms are ugly and they
make you sick!
This is THE can. I hate the
evil can. Aunt D grew up with a ranching family. She told
mom to remove the tab, put some rocks in the can, tape the can shut and
throw it on the ground when I'm doing something bad. I love Aunt D
she give me a nice puppy blanket. I hate the can.
At first I
got scared, I barked and growled REAL loud. Now I just look at
mom. She is so silly. She is suppose to throw the ball not the can.
When mom shakes the can it sort of sounds like a rattlesnake.
Rattlesnakes are very bad to play with and all dogs need to stay away
from them.
I made an important discovery. If you pull the toilet paper you
can play with it all over the house. Now there is a can on top of
the toilet paper. When I pull tare up the toilet paper it looks
like it snowed in the house. It never snows where I live. I
like to run in the rain and try and catch the rain drops. It might
be fun to catch snow flakes.
When
mom is watering the plants I LOVE to run through the water. I jump
over the hose. I get all wet. I love water. We live in
a desert. I try to bite the water but it gets away. I love
to chew ice cubes. The chewing helps me get big dog teeth and the
water is good for me. You always have to have water in your bowl
when you live in the desert.
I love to play and go for walks. There are a lot of dogs and cats in my neighborhood. I'm not allowed to chase them. I'm big and strong so I wear a harness when I go for a walk. By the time I'm full grown I might weight 80 or 90 pounds. Mom says people don't understand that when I run at them all I want to do is play and get good boy tickles. With the harness I can't pull away from mom or run. People aren't afraid of me and I sit and get the good boy tickles.
When I'm not taking a nap in my Lazy Boy I'm sleeping in the office.
Mom works from home. Sometimes she works too much. I have my
bed and toys in the office. I try to play with the computer
keyboard - but - the evil can is there and I change my mind.
I feel very sad that people abuse animals. I asked mom why and
this is what she told me.
I'm so glad I can lay on the patio. I'm suppose to use suntan
loction to prevent sunburn. White dogs can get sunburned. In
Arizona the sun is strong.
I asked mom how this could be prevent and she told
me people can contact
these organizations.
I'm so glad I was adopted. Otherwise I could have starved or been
mistreated. When people see me they say I'm handsome because I am a
White Boxer. They think I'm special because I'm a White Boxer. White
Boxers aren't special. But, I'm special to mom. That's all that
matters. I just wish she would stop taking my picture.
Mon
just can't past the saggy face and wrinkles. I wonder how mad she'll
get if I chew the camera?
