Detailed Description of Hemi-Sync Surgical Support Series

The Surgical Support Series from Monroe Products helps to strengthen the mind-body connection by using the patented, scientifically based and clinically proven sound technology known as Hem-sync.  This remarkable "audio-guidance" technology, supported by more than 40 years of research is now embedded in sources of tapes and CDs.

The Surgical Support Series was designed to ease the experience of illness, injury, surgery; chemotherapy, dental treatment and other physical trauma.  By reinforcing the mind-body connection, these exercises help to strengthen the physical and mental components of the total healing process, including:

  • Directing the autonomic body functions to accelerate healing while achieving a reduction in pain and discomfort.
  • Strengthening emotional well-being by assisting individuals to maintain a relaxed, confident, and positive attitude.

The following results have been noted by many using the series:  Lower, but stable blood pressure; Deep relaxation;  Slower, deeper breathing; Less and sometimes no pain medication required during surgery; Quicker return to consciousness in the recovery room; Accelerated recuperation

Non Verbal Recordings-Play while performing another activity or simply relax and enjoy the experience.

Verbal Recordings-Sit or lay comfortably in a distraction-free environment.  Adjust the volume to a comfortable level.  Visualize or simply think of doing what the words describe.

General notes on the use of the Surgical Support Series

The Monroe Institute and Monroe Products are not medical or therapeutic organizations.  The Surgical Support Series is recommended for use with the knowledge, cooperation, and/or participation of the patient's health care practitioners.

The verbal instruction in the exercises encourage the patient to relax, to accept the healing assistance being provided by others, and to allow the body's own natural healing abilities to be fully utilized.

Several of the exercises contain encodings; audible, coded messages presented in an exercise which the patient may recall and say to him/herself as desired to achieve a specific result.  Encodings may be used any time after listening to the exercise without further use of the recording itself.

Whenever possible, use stereo headphones.  Except for Intra-Op, if the patient in unable to use the headphones, place stereo speakers beside the bed and directly to the right and left of his/her head.  It is important that the patient is not disturbed while the exercises are playing.

In all cases in which the patient is ambulatory:  Have him/her lie down or recline in a quiet, softly lighted room after having used the bathroom to avoid the discomfort of a full bladder.  Loosen or remove any tight clothing. Remove glasses (or contacts) and shoes.

Be sure to notify those attending the patient in the operating room, recovery room, and hospital room that the patient may: require less anesthesia for surgery; have lower and stable blood pressure; have slower and stable heart rate; have slower, deeper respiration; experience a quick return to consciousness in the recovery room after the surgery; ask for less pain or sleep medication; evidence accelerated recuperation.

Any of the exercises in the Surgical Support Series may be experiences as often as desired.  After a physical crisis has passed, or in the absence of illness or injury, these CDs can help to strengthen and sustain a condition of wellness. Do NOT use Dolby™ or other noise-reduction systems as they interfere with the Hemi-sync signals.  Do NOT use CDs while driving or operating machinery.

Instructions for use:

  • Surgery:  Play Pre-Op as many times as possible prior to surgery, both before and after admission to the hospital.  Allow the patient to sleep as long as she/he can after each playing.
